A little movie demonstrating the installation in action. This is exactly what I envisioned a piece moving, blending with the landscape but still provocative to the site. Oh..Can you hear the sounds of nature?? I just enjoy that so much!

Wave Hill "The Green Wall" It's up!
Outdoor installation on the sloping lawn below Glyndor Gallery presents a curving wall of photography and drawings fluttering in the breeze, blending with the landscape.
Images printed on waterproof fabric mounted on a clear plexiglass structure. 32 feet long x 8 feet high. 2008
I am inspired by the everyday saga and the painterly effect I see everywhere, in my contradictory tradition..I approach drawings, photos , paintings as very three dimensional mediums because the feelings, memories that provoke, the stories that are told have many dimensions ,that's why the Green Wall is a painting and a sculpture that moves and changes as life and the landscape that serves as it background
The process of giving life to idea takes time, takes changes. This piece was inspired by the diversity found in nature, the human presence and the human manipulation, the greens and the blues of the Wave Hill landscape and the blending of it all. The photos were taken in different locations in New York and Dominican Republic. The New York images are places I pass by when traveling to schools all over Brooklyn in my teaching-artist residencies with Studio in a School.
My projects are family productions..William understands when I speak with my gestures and hands..and we are a good team. My sister and the girls also get assignments so my ideas can have a happy ending.

Wave Hill installation in process
After many months of testing out ideas, and pulling all the pieces together. It's Done! Not to mention having to repair the piece after it was damaged in a freak wind storm. Although most of the piece survived unscathed.
I put together a slide showing some of the process involved in making my installation "The Green Wall" at Wave Hill a reality. The piece will be on display from June 15th till September. A big Thank you! to my husband William and also Mike Childs .

Wave Hill Project: Part 2 making progress
Here we are again!! Another project!!!!
This a sculpture-moving painting work commissioned by Wave Hill. Testing out the technical parts of the sculpture in my backyard. Working with a new material (plexiglass) and really enjoying the process. It's still very much a work in process, in my little garden in Brooklyn..of course it is raining and I am loving the light on this rainy morning. The final piece will be ready to show at the Wave Hills Gardens from June 11-Sept1,2008. I will post more images from the installation of the piece and of course the images when it is finished.
